Abortion is healthcare.

As a doula, I am most often walking alongside families who are continuing their pregnancies. I support births. I support postpartum. I support the wild, beautiful transformation into parenthood.

And I am firmly, unapologetically in support of reproductive autonomy.

Supporting people in whatever they choose is rooted in valuing bodily autonomy. People deserve accurate information, safe care, and the ability to make decisions about their own lives without coercion, shame, or political interference.

Abortion is safe.

Abortion, when provided in a medical setting or though properly prescribed medication, is one of the safest procedures in medicine. Complication rates for first-trimester abortion are very low and significantly lower than the risks associated with carrying a pregnancy to term.

Medication abortion has been extensively studied and is considered safe and effective when used as directed. In-clinic procedures are performed by trained clinicians following established medical standards, with appropriate follow-up care.

Major medical organizations worldwide recognize abortion as standard reproductive healthcare.

Regret is rare.

Abortion is often framed as something people inevitably regret. The data does not support that narrative.

Long-term research shows that the overwhelming majority of people who have abortions report that it was the right decision for them. That does not mean the experience is emotionally simple; human experiences rarely are. But the idea that abortion routinely leads to deep, lasting regret is not supported by the evidence.

What people tend to need is not shame. They need support, accurate information, and respect.

Local Access:

If someone in our area needs care, there are safe and legal options available.

Rockland

  • Planned Parenthood, Spring Valley Center

Westchester

  • All Women's Health & Medical Services, White Plains

  • Planned Parenthood, New Rochelle Center

  • Planned Parenthood, White Plains Health Center

  • Planned Parenthood, Yonkers Center

Bergen

  • Metropolitan Medical Associates, Englewood

  • Planned Parenthood, Hackensack Health Center

  • Women's Choice, Englewood

New York and New Jersey both protect abortion access under state law. Telehealth medication abortion may also be an option for eligible patients. If cost, transportation, or logistics are barriers, both states have organizations that help connect patients with financial and practical support.

You deserve choice.

This work is about dignity. It is about trusting people to make decisions about their own bodies. It is about recognizing that pregnancy, parenting, and reproductive health exist within real lives that are complex and deeply personal.

You can be passionately pro-birth support and passionately pro-choice at the same time. Im fact, I would argue that true support requires both.
